Basic Team

Marill @ Damp Rock
Sassy - Huge Power
- Rain Dance
- Bubblebeam
- Aqua Ring
- Baton Pass

Marill is Azumarill's first child. She is almost as spoiled as Skyler herself, and regards Skyler as 'the cool cousin.' Azumarill is usually scolding Skyler and Marill for some kind of trouble that they're getting into while the two of them exchange guilty looks. Marill does not want to evolve and Skyler is perfectly okay with that.

Zap - Lanturn @ Petaya Berry
Hasty - Swift Swim
- Thunder
- Thunder Wave
- Confuse Ray
- Water Gun

Skyler caught Zap not too long after she became a gym leader. She was fishing very early one day and Zap was the first Lanturn she had ever seen. At the time she wanted as many pokemon as she could get so she could choose a great team, so she caught him. He is used in her underbattling team because he will sometimes act before wating for her to tell him to. He's very eager to please and thinks he knows best.

River - Floatzel @ Liechi Berry
Naive - Swift Swim
- Crunch
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang
- Rain Dance

River and Marill have been best friends ever since both of them were born. River belonged to a friend of Skyler's in the area, and when the friend moved he couldn't bear to separate the two of them. He is still technically River's trainer, but Skyler thinks of it as an extended loan. River will try to make friends with anyone, even in the middle of a battle.

Advanced Team

Lucky - Rain Dance Lead
Lanturn @ Damp Rock
Calm - Volt Absorb
40 HP / 216 SpA / 252 SpD
- Rain Dance
- Surf
- Thunder
- Ice Beam

Lanturn is a very late addition to Skyler's team. After she was appointed gym leader, when she went to explore the gym building she found Lanturn there, having either wandered into the gym or been left behind by Alexis. Lanturn was fairly easy to catch, and Skyler later realized it was because Lanturn had almost her same personality.

Status Absorption
Azumarill @ Leftovers
Adamant - Huge Power
EV's: 244 HP / 240 Atk / 4 Def / 4 SpD / 16 Spe
- Waterfall
- Return
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Skyler received her Azurill from her father when she was a little girl. She wasn't a trainer then, just a slightly bored, spoiled rich resort kid who had a penchant for wandering around the beach and picking up other people's surfboards. She battled with Azurill sometimes but usually only when they ran into Magikarp. She competed in surfing contests and her Azurill always swam with her, but after one competition where she was accused of using Azurill to cheat, she quit competitive surfing. Azurill blamed itself and became very depressed, and Skyler decided the best thing to help it would be to take it on the Bohren League Challenge. Azurill evolved into Marill after defeating the Ground gym, regaining confidence in itself. Skyler was very proud of it but never pressured it, since Skyler doesn't know the meaning of the word 'pressure.' After a long, hard-fought battle at the Poison gym (now Ghost gym) Marill evolved into Azumarill. Azumarill is the 'taskmaster' of Skyler's pokemon, and keeps them in line because Skyler is mostly too lazy to.

Lily - Special Sweeper
Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Modest - Swift Swim
60 HP / 252 SpA / 196 Spe
- Surf
- Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Focus Punch

Ludicolo was a present from Hazel upon becoming a gym leader. Since Hazel retired from the elite four, she has traditionally given a dual-typed pokemon with grass as one of its types to each new gym leader in the League. It's a mark of how long Hazel has been a gym leader that every single other gym leader has a pokemon from her. Skyler was excited about the Lotad she received, since she had started to love weather as a strategy (rainstorms make the best waves for surfing, too) and her future Ludicolo's specialty is fighting in the rain. Ludicolo has become one of her most important pokemon.

Bluegull - Cleric
Altaria @ Leftovers
Careful - Natural Cure
252 HP / 16 Atk / 176 SpD / 64 Spe
- Roost
- Heal Bell
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw

Altaria is a pokemon that Skyler never intended to have. Upon beating her third gym, her mother got her a Swablu as a congratulations present. Skyler's mother knows almost nothing about pokemon and assumed Swablu was a water-type becuase "It's blue honey, aren't water pokemon blue?" Initially Skyler kept Swablu in its pokeball because she wasn't sure how to use it - she was and always will be a water trainer. During her battle with Hazel at the grass gym, however, she was forced to use Swablu since the rest of her pokemon had been KOed, and she discovered that there was no way this was a newly-caught Swablu, since it easily won the battle for her. Ever since then Skyler has trained the Swablu equally with the rest of her pokemon. It evolved into an Altaria shortly before her battle with the Ice gym, which nearly proved fatal since both of Altaria's typings are weak to ice.

Typhoon - Physical Sweeper
Floatzel @ Damp Rock
Adamant - Swift Swim
232 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def / 16 Spe
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Return
- Rain Dance

Floatzel, as a Buizel, was the first wild pokemon that actually gave Skyler a run for her money. She is an incredibly talented battler but when she was younger she mostly battled by pure intuition, claiming that the finer points were "boring" and she didn't care to learn them. Because of Buizel's speed, it was able to run circles around Marill. Skyler immediately wanted the Buizel and spent days following it and bothing it until the Buizel got sick of being followed and finally turned around to battle her again. Marill, upset by its loss, defeated the Buizel and it was captured. It evolved after defeating the Fighting gym. Floatzel gets very easily annoyed with Skyler's laid-back attitude but respects Azumarill.

Constance - Cleanup Sweeper
Kabutops @ Life Orb
Adamant - Swift Swim
72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Aqua Tail
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet

Kabutops is a pokemon that, in a way, Skyler has had for a very long time. When she was a little girl she found a dome fossil washed up on the beach one morning and put it in her pocket because she thought it looked cool. She had no idea what it was and kept it in her pocket as a good luck charm and a worry stone for most of her career. At one point during her journey through the League, she ran into a scientist who practically salivated over the fossil. He told her that he would love to study it and she, being not as stupid hippy as she appears, told him no. Then she went back to her home city and did a bunch of research on fossils, eventually sending her fossil off to Kanto to be revived. When it arrived back at Crescent City it clung to her like it already knew her, and Kabutops is one of her most loyal pokemon.

Region and Town of Origin: Bohren, Crescent Beach City
Character's Pokemon, if not new: Marill, Lanturn, Azumarill, Ludicolo, Altaria, Floatzel, Kabutops

Character Personality: Skyler is the very definition of 'laid-back.' As a child, she never had to do anything herself and everything was given to her. While traveling she learned to be a bit more self-reliant and she's very world-wise now where she was naive before, but she tends to express it in an uncaring and sometimes dismissing manner. She loves her pokemon and she loves battling, but she almost loves surfing more than either of those things put together. She's extremelypassionate about the ocean. Her solution to any life challenge is to "let it roll off your back, man."

However, Skyler is not stupid. At times she can be somewhat dense but thinking she can be talked around or down to will only get her to sic one of her pokemon on you. She's great at manipulating the system, which is why she uses weather as a battle tactic. Never call her a cheater.

Character History: Skyler received her Azurill from her father when she was a little girl.

After winning the eight badges of the League, Skyler decided to return home and take a well-deserved vacation. Upon coming back to Crescent Beach City, she found that Alexis, who was the gym leader, was leaving to take her place among the Elite Four. Skyler put in her bid to become the gym leader of the town - it is not required to defeat the Elite Four to become a gym leader. Unbeknownst to her, the League thinks she's dumb as sand and didn't want her becoming a leader - until her father made a few very pointed phone calls about funding. Skyler was instated leader of the Crescent Beach City Gym.

She has always been a talented battler - she battles more on instinct than anything else, and has discovered that water pokemon thrive in the rain. All her teams are built to exploit Rain Dance, and most of her pokemon have the Swift Swim ability. She is very understanding with her pokemon, and won't force them to battle if they don't want to. This, combined with the fact that she is never in her gym, makes league challengers very angry with her.
